Mission Statement

The AAUW Florida Supporting Foundation is organized for charitable and educational purposes in order to advance equity for women and girls by supporting projects of AAUW Florida that also advance equity for women and girls and qualify as non-profit tax exempt organizations under the Internal Revenue Service Code. The organization sponsors two one week STEM camps for girls entering the 8th grade in the fall. Girls were nominated by Math and Science teachers. They applied, were interviewed and selected to attend camp. Each attended a 12 hour course such as robotics, engineering, marine biology, etc. They also attended 8 workshops, attended a panel discussion led by STEM career women. The girls lived in college dorms, ate in the cafeteria, and used campus classrooms and labs. Friday the girls visited a nearby STEM facility. The camp was free except for a small registration fee.
