Mission Statement

THE MISSION OF AMY'S WISH WITH WINGS IS TO PROVIDE EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, AUTISM, DOWN SYNDROME, CEREBRAL PALSY, BRAIN INJURIES, VICTIMS OF ABUSE, VISION IMPAIRED, BALANCE ISSUES AND SELECTIVE MUTISM. THESE CHILDREN CAN BENEFIT FROM THE MOVEMENT OF THE HORSE TO STIMULATE THE RIDERS' VESTIBULAR SYSTEM. THE RESPONSE OF THE BALANCE SIGNALS, VOLUNTARY MOVEMENT AND SPEECH IS DUE TO THE HORSE PROVIDING THE MOVEMENT TO MIMIC WALKING IN A HUMAN AS AN ALTERNATIVE THERAPY. CHILDREN CAN QUICKLY GAIN SELF ESTEEM AND CAN LEARN SEQUENTIAL TASKS AS WELL AS BUILD STONGER GROSS AND FINE MOTOR SKILS THROUGH EQUINE THERAPY. OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE TRAINED AND CERTIFIED THROUGH VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS.
