THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF THE FREEMASONRY FOR THE SOUTHERN JURISDICTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - VALLEY OF WASHINGTON - ORIENT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (THE LODGE) IS A FRATERNITY, THE PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF WHICH (CONTINUED ON SCH O) (CONTINUED FROM FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1) IS TO TAKE GOOD MEN AND MAKE THEM BETTER. ITS MEMBERS STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE IN EVERY WAY. ITS GOALS ARE: EDUCATION; LIBERTY; MORALITY; PATRIOTISM; AND BROTHERHOOD. GENERAL ACTS OF CHARITY ARE PROVIDED DAILY TO MANKIND. THE LODGE HAS BEEN ORGANIZED IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE MAY 31, 1801.
