AHF BECAME ARKANSAS CHAMPIONS FOR HEALTH (CFH) ON NOVEMBER 19, 2018. THEIR MISSION IS TO EMPOWER KIDS TO OWN THEIR HEALTH. IN ARKANSAS, A CHILDHOOD OBESITY EPIDEMIC IS OCCURRING WITH 39.4% OF K-12 CHILDREN OVERWEIGHT AND OBESE. OBESITY IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE RISE IN TYPE 2 DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, CANCER, AND MANY OTHER CHRONIC DISEASES IMPACTING CHILDREN IN ARKANSAS. CFH PHASED OUT OF ITS PREVIOUS PROGRAMS TO FOCUS ON ENDING CHILDHOOD OBESITY IN AR. ITS INITIAL PILOT PROGRAM WAS WITH AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DURING THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR.
