TO PROVIDE WRESTLING PROGRAMS IN NYC FOR K-12 STUDENTS WHO MAY NOT OTHERWISE HAVE ACCESS TO POSITIVE OUTLETS FOR THEIR TALENTS AND POTENTIAL. BEAT THE STREETS WRESTLING (BTS) SERVES STUDENTS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, 75% ARE CHILDREN OF COLOR AND 74% ARE CONSIDERED DISADVANTAGED BY THE NYC DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE BEGINNER TO ADVANCED WRESTLING TRAINING TO PREPARE CAPABLE STUDENTS TO COMPETE AT THE CITY, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVELS. IN ADDITION TO WRESTLING TRAINING, BTS EMPHASIZES OFF-THE-MAT DEVELOPMENT BY DRAWING PARALLELS BETWEEN WRESTLING AND LIFE CHALLENGES, AND BY OFFERING COLLEGE VISITS, SAT PREP TUTORING, FINANCIAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS, INTERNSHIPS, AND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS.
