BIENVIVIR SENIOR HEALTH SERVICES (BIENVIVIR) IS A COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM LOCATED IN EL PASO WHICH COMMENCED IN 1987 TO SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY RENDER SERVICES TO THE FRAIL ELDERLY OF EL PASO USING THE PACE MODEL (PROGRAM FOR ALL-INCLUSIVE CARE OF THE ELDERLY).THE OBJECTIVE OF PACE IS TO ENABLE FRAIL ELDERLY PERSONS TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT AND RESIDE IN THEIR OWN HOMES AND COMMUNITIES FOR AS LONG AS IT IS DESIRED AND MEDICALLY POSSIBLE. KEY COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM ARE THE COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE CENTERS AND THE INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM. THE COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE CENTERS SERVE AS THE SITES WHERE THE ELDERLY PERSON RECEIVES MOST SERVICES IN ONE SETTING.
