Mission Statement

Formed in 1993, the Classical Arts Society of Houston is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and maintaining the rich heritage of the classical performing arts of India. In particular, the organization presents South Indian classical music (also called Carnatic music) concerts by well-known artists visiting from India, 4 to 5 times a year. A music festival is held each year to commemorate a well-known 18th century music composer by name Sri Tyagaraja. The organization also educates attendees through talks, lecture demonstrations and symposia by experts in the field. Many youngsters in the Houston area learn Carnatic music.
