Mission Statement

CDI IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED IN 1970. CDI IS ENGAGED IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, HEAD START FACILITIES RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT, AND TRAINING/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. CDI IS CURRENTLY THE NATIONAL INTERIM MANAGEMENT CONTRACTOR UNDER DHHS, ACF, OFFICE OF HEAD START. UNDER THIS CONTRACT, CDI PROVIDES UNINTERRUPTED, QUALITY HEAD START AND EARLY HEAD START SERVICES TO COMMUNITIES WHOSE HEAD START PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN DE-FUNDED. CDI ADDRESSES PROGRAM HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES, SUPPORTS STAFF DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNICATES PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO STAFF, PARENTS, AND THE COMMUNITY, AND ENHANCES THE OVERALL PROGRAM QUALITY. CDI IS ALSO THE CURRENT REAL PROPERTY AND FACILITIES INITIATIVE CONTRACTOR TO SUPPORT THE OFFICE OF HEAD START. THIS CONTRACT IS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE CAPACITY AND COORDINATION OF FACILITY PROJECT WORK. CDI ALSO HAS SEVERAL SMALLER GRANTS FOR PROJECTS RELATED TO CHILDCARE FACILITIES AS WELL AS A FARM TO SCHOOL FOOD PROGRAM.
