HELP UNINSURED AND UNDERSERVED GALVESTON COUNTY WOMEN OBTAIN FREE SCREENING MAMMOGRAMS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 2017/2018, D'FEET PROVIDED FUNDING FOR 737 CLINICAL SCREENING MAMMOGRAMS. ABNORMAL SCREENING RESULTS ON THESE MAMMOGRAMS LED TO 207 DIAGNOSTIC MAMMOGRAMS, 272 DIAGNOSTIC BREAST ULTRASOUNDS, 27 BIOPSIES AND 8 SURGICAL CONSULTS. THERE WERE 5 NEW BREAST CANCER CASES DIAGNOSED DURING THE YEAR. D'FEET STAFF AND GCHD PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES PROVIDE EXTENSIVE COMMUNITY OUTREACH THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH FAIRS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS DURING THE YEAR, AS WELL AS ON SITE RECRUITMENT IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF THE COUNTY.
