THE DODGE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY/MAY MUSEUM IS THE PRIMARY INSTITUTION WITH RESPONSIBILITY TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, RESEARCH AND INTERPRET OBJECTS, ARTIFACTS, DOCUMENTS, PUBLISHED MATERIALS AND SITES RELATING TO DODGE COUNTY, NEB'S HERITAGE AND ITS CULTURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT. COLLECTION, PRESERVATION, RESEARCH AND INTERPRETATION ARE INTERDEPENDENT FUNCTIONS AND TOGETHER THEY DEFINE THE MISSION OF THE SOCIETY.AS AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION, THE SOCIETY/MUSEUM WILL ENCOURAGE PUBLIC INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION IN ITS ACTIVITIES THROUGH SPECIAL-PURPOSE PROGRAMS, PUBLICATIONS, AND DISTRIBUTION OF INFORMATION VIA THE NEWS MEDIA. THE SOCIETY/MUSEUM WILL PROVIDE INTERPRETIVE, RESEARCH AND PRESERVATION ASSISTANCE TO OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO THE EXTENT ITS RESOURCES WILL ALLOW.
