IT IS THE GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE FARM LABOR ORGANIZING COMMITTEE, AFL-CIO, HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS FLOC UNION, TO FORM AND COMPRISE A UNION OF PEOPLE TO WORK FOR THE BETTERMENT OF FARMWORKERS AND FORMER FARMWORKERS, AND ALL OTHER PERSONS, REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR, CITIZENSHIP, AGE, SEX, CREED, PLACE OF NATIONAL ORIGIN, WHO FOR ANY REASON HAVE BEEN EXCLUDED FROM FULL ENJOYMENT OF SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL RIGHTS. THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS OF THIS UNION ARE: 1) TO IMPROVE WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS OF FLOC UNION AFL-CIO MEMBERS AND TO DEVELOP JUST COMPENSATION FOR WORK (I.E., HEALTH BENEFITS, RETIREMENT PLANS, WORKER PLANS FOR CHANGES ON METHOD OF PRODUCTION, ETC.) THROUGH SELF-ORGANIZATION, PUBLIC ACTIONS AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. 2) TO REPRESENT AND ADVOCATE FOR FLOC UNION MEMBERS BEFORE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE GROUPS. 3) TO DEVELOP SELF-HELP PROGRAMS FOR THE ABOVE. 4) TO ENCOURAGE LEGISLATION FOR THE ABOVE WHO ARE EXCLUDED FROM ALL LABOR LEGISLATION.
