FOUNDATIONS FOR A BETTER OREGON ("FBO") IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN 2004 BY FIVE MAJOR OREGON FOUNDATIONS COMMITTED TO WORKING COLLECTIVELY. FROM 2006-2020, FBO OPERATED AS THE "CHALKBOARD PROJECT," FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON IMPROVING K-12 PUBLIC EDUCATION THROUGH INITIATIVES THAT SUPPORTED THE EDUCATOR WORKFORCE. IN 2020, THE ORGANIZATION ADOPTED A NEW MISSION, VISION, AND RELAUNCHED UNDER THE ORIGINAL NAME OF FOUNDATIONS FOR A BETTER OREGON (FBO). FBO IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING OREGON HAS SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO SUPPORT EVERY CHILD TO LEARN, GROW, AND THRIVE. WE BRIDGE COMMUNITY, POLICYMAKERS, AND PHILANTHROPY TO COLLABORATE TOWARD REALIZING A SHARED LONG-TERM VISION FOR OUR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE.CURRENTLY, FBO IS SUPPORTED AND GOVERNED BY THE FOLLOWING: THE COLLINS FOUNDATION, THE FORD FAMILY FOUNDATION, MEYER MEMORIAL TRUST, OREGON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, AND THE JAMES F. AND MARION L. MILLER FOUNDATION.
