GAITHERSBURG MEALS ON WHEELS, INC (GMW) WAS INCORPORATED IN 1981 BY A GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING NUTRITIOUS MEALS, AT A LOW COST TO HOMEBOUND DISABLED PEOPLE OF ANY AGE WHO ARE UNABLE TO SAFELY SHOP FOR AND PREPARE THEIR OWN FOOD.THE GOAL IS TO ASSIST OUR CLIENTS IN REMAINING IN THEIR OWN HOME AND TO PROVIDE GOOD FOOD RESULTING IN BETTER HEALTH.THE SERVICE IS NEVER DENIED DUE TO THE INABILITY TO PAY. DONATIONS ARE SOLICITED TO HELP PAY FOR THE MEALS. GRANT CONTRACT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (DHHS) OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY,MARYLAND PROVIDES THE MAJORITY OF FIANCIAL RESOURCES TO GMW.
