THE PURPOSE OF GATEWAY TO DISCOVERY IS TO BE A COMMUNITY OF WOMEN IN RECOVERY FROM DRUG ADDICTION, ALCOHOLISM AND PROSTITUTION. THE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE SANCTUARY ALONG WITH AN ARRAY OF SUPPORT SERVICES AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN WHO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT HISTORY OF PROSTITUTION AND CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY. DEVELOPED PRIMARILY AS A SAFE HOUSE, THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM PROVIDES LONG-TERM SECURE HOUSING AS A HAVEN FROM SOCIAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC FACTORS THAT DRIVE WOMEN TO DESPERATE MEANS FOR SURVIVAL.
