POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM INSPIRING GIRLS TO BE HEALTHY. PROVIDE AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR GIRLS 3RD TO 8TH GRADE WITHIN FIVE COUNTIES IN OREGON. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INSPIRE GIRLS TO BE JOYFUL, HEALTHY AND CONFIDENT USING THE PHYSICAL TRAINING FOR A 5K AS A BACKDROP TO LEARNING LIFE LESSONS. THE 10 WEEK PROGRAM INCLUDED 20 LESSONS LED BY VOLUNTEER COACHES IN THE COMMUNITY. IN FISCAL YEAR 2016, MORE THAN 600 GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN OVER 50 TEAMS FROM SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS LOCATED IN FIVE COUNTIES: BENTON, LANE, LINN, POLK AND MARION. MORE THAN 165 VOLUNTEER COACHES WERE RECRUITED, TRAINED AND EVALUATED IN THE PROGRAM.
