Mission Statement

Help Kids Inida's (HKI) primary purpose is to raise funds in support of the work of HKI's partner, the Betsy Elizabet Trust (BET), located in Porayar, Tamil Nadu, India. BET is an initiative to improve the life of the poor in rural villages, primarily of Dalit families, through the care and education of young children. BET, a nonprofit organization licensed by the government of India, works with HKI under a Memorandum of Understanding. HKI funds three of BET's five preschools; the other two are supported by Asha for Education and the International School of Geneva, Switzerland. 170 children attend the HKI supported schools. Funding covers all operating expenses, including salaries for 27 staff, food, health care, transportation, utilities and maintenance, insurance, uniforms, administration and necessary building projects. HKI also supports a community health center and purchased land for a small farm that provides employment and food for local families, and the preschools.
