Mission Statement

Our mission is to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation and Cutting (FGM/C), protect and promote the rights and health of women and children, particularly Africans and other immigrants in the US through advocacy, sensitization, healthcare and legal assistance, and promote other beneficiary culture and tradition. Created in 2006, IAC-USA has three principle goals. We work to provide support to African immigrant communities in the United States who have been affected by Female Genital Mutilation and Cutting (FGM/C), and other harmful traditional practices (HTPs). Through our work in affected immigrant communities, we strive to bring an end to the continued practice of these harmful traditions that a significant number of immigrants continue to practice even after leaving their native countries. And, we work to raise awareness with the aim of creating international pressure to end these practices.
