The purpose and mission of LMSA Midwest shall be the following:To develop a network of communication among Latino medical students in the Midwestern United States;To provide support for Latino medical students in areas of academic success, retention, research, and clinical opportunities;To support educational programs for recruitment of Latino High School and College students into the health professions;To establish an integrated communication system between undergraduates, medical students, and healthcare professionals throughout the Midwest;To promote quality healthcare in the Latino Communities, and act as liaisons with healthcare providers throughout the Midwest to maintain political awareness among members and take an active role in legislation affecting Latino healthcare; and to support other underserved minority groups with their healthcare and social concerns
