IT WAS FOUNDED IN 2001 BY A NETWORK OF LITERACY PROVIDERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS TO ENSURE CENTRAL TEXAS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES HAVE THE SKILLS TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. NOW 67 MEMBERS STRONG, WE EMBED HIGH-QUALITY PROGRAMMING IN THE BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT SECTORS TO HELP STRENGTHEN THE WORKFORCE, BOLSTER NONPROFIT PROGRAMS, INCREASE LITERACY, AND BUILD STRONGER COMMUNITIES.LITERACY COALITION OF CENTRAL TEXAS PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS THROUGH DIRECT SERVICE AND OUR PARTNERSHIPS TO APPROX. 1200 UNDUPLICATED CHILDREN/ADULTS ANNUALLY (APPROX. 98% NON-WHITE, APPROX. 90% LOW-INCOME, AND APPROX. 40% SELF-REPORTING AS VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIMES).
