THE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA WAS FOUNDED IN 1961 AS A LOCAL AFFIATE OF THE NATIONAL MEDICAL ASSOCATION, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1895 TO PROMOTE THE HEALTHCARE OF THE AFRO-AMERICAN COMMUNITY BUT ESPECIALLY THE PROFESSIONAL WELL-BEING AND ASPIRATIONS OF THE AFRO-AMERICAN PHYSICIANS.
