Mission Statement

Monteverde Friends U.S. (MFUS) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 1999 to make grants for social, cultural, educational, and other charitable organizations located in the Monteverde community and elsewhere in the world. More specifically, the purposes of MFUS are: 1. To promote the spiritual, social, cultural moral and educational development of the members of the Monteverde Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends as well as the inhabitants of the surrounding area. 2. To promote peace and social and economic justice in the Monteverde Region, in Costa Rica, in the rest of Central America, and elsewhere. 3. To promote among the members of the Monteverde Monthly Meeting, the residents of the Monteverde area, the rest of Costa Rica and elsewhere, an awareness and appreciation of the natural world, conservation practices and the defense of natural resources and the environment.
