Advocating for the Navajo Churro Sheep breed and educating the members and public about the unique breed characteristics, cultural history and sheep flock management. The Navajo Churro Sheep breed has been and continues to be important culturally to the Navajo Native American and Hispanic populations. The breed is unique and was nearly wiped out during the past 150 years. The NCSA has worked with universities and Navajo peoples to develop breed standards with the objective to maintain the unique breed characteristics that are important for traditional weavers and flock owners.
