Mission Statement

To promote the recognition and advancement of the professions of translation and interpretation; To promote high standards and to protect and safeguard the rights and interests of professional translators and interpreters; NOTIS is a non-profit organization and a regional chapter of the American Translators Association covering the northwest corner of the United States: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. Our Objectives: To provide information which will assist newcomers to the profession and enhance the abilities of established practitioners; To assist members in marketing their services (though NOTIS does not serve as a referral service); To inform the general public, clients, and persons in allied fields about NOTIS and about translation and interpretation with the goal of raising awareness and respect for the value of the professions; and To seek to influence public policy as it applies to the professions of translation and interpretation.
