THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE OKLAHOMA HUMANE SOCIETY IS TO END THE NEEDLESS EUTHANASIA OF ADOPTABLE PETS IN OKLAHOMA. THROUGH ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER, THE ORGANIZATION IS ABLE TO TRANSFER DOGS AND CATS AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA INTO ITS ADOPTION AND RELOCATION PROGRAMS. THROUGH ITS SPAY AND NEUTER PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION PREVENTS THE BIRTH OF UNWANTED PETS AND HELPS REDUCE INTAKE AT THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER. HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROMOTE COMPASSION TOWARD ANIMALS AND TEACH RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION HAS A STATEWIDE INITIATIVE THAT IS TARGETING RURAL COMMUNITIES TO REDUCE PET OVERPOPULATION THROUGH SPAY / NEUTER, VACCINES AND EDUCATION.
