PENN ASYLUM FOR INDIGENT WIDOWS AND SINGLE WOMEN (PENN HOME), LOCATED IN PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION THAT OWNED AND OPERATED A RETIREMENT RESIDENCE. THE FACILITY WAS LICENSED TO PROVIDE PERSONAL CARE SERVICES TO 45 INDIVIDUALS. PENN HOME HAS BEEN IN OPERATION SINCE 1848. THE ORGANIZATION SUBMITTED PAPERWORK WITH THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA AND EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2020 THE FACILITY WAS CLOSED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AND COULD NO LONGER ACCEPT RESIDENTS, AND ALL CURRENT RESIDENTS WERE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER FACILITIES DURING 2021. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2022, PENN HOME BEGAN TO OPERATE AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT PRIVATE FOUNDATION. THE ORGANIZATION WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT PRIOR RESIDENTS AND OTHER RETIREMENT HOMES BY WAY OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
