Mission Statement

People's Homesteading Group (PHG) develops, coordinates and implements programs and related activities that create opportunities for home ownership for low-to-moderate income households by making physical and social improvements in deteriorated Baltimore neighborhoods, focusing on rehabilitation of vacant, abandoned residential properties. PHG eliminates blighted vacant houses by renovating and occupying them for homeowner occupancy as a means of stabilizing and revitalizing deteriorated Baltimore neighborhoods. In addition, the organization hires disadvantaged adults for entry level construction jobs by carrying out interior demolition for the organization's own projects.
