Mission Statement

THE MISSION OF PIONEER GEORGIA (PG) IS TO FOSTER THE REGENERATION AND REGROWTH OF SMALL TOWNS. HOGANSVILLE, GEORGIA, IS OUR FIRST OR PROTOTYPE COMMUNITY. HOGANSVILLE HAS A HISTORY AS A MILL TOWN THAT AT ONE TIME EMPLOYED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AND WAS THE MAIN STAY OF THE ECONOMIC DRIVERS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. WITH THE LOSS OF SOUTHERN MILLS MANY OF THESE COMMUNITIES OFFER NO HOPE FOR EMPLOYMENT OF THE LOCAL YOUTH WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY FALL PREY TO DRUGS AND UNEMPLOYMENT. CURRENTLY PG OFFERS AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE YOUTH AND BEGIN WHAT WE HOPE WILL BE A POSITION OF MENTORING THAT LASTS THROUGH THEIR YOUTHFUL YEARS. WE ALSO OPERATE A COMBINED WORK SPACE TO MAKE AVAILABLE AN OFFICE SPACE FOR YOUNG ARTISANS AND BUSINESS PEOPLE THAT ARE BEGINNING THEIR CAREERS.
