THE COUNCIL PERFORMS A VARIETY OF FUNCTIONS AIMED AT REDUCING POLLUTION FROM CRUDE OIL TRANSPORTATION THROUGH PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND AND THE GULF OF ALASKA. THE COUNCIL INCREASES PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE VALDEZ MARINE TERMINAL'S OIL SPILL RESPONSE, SPILL PREVENTION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CAPABILITIES, AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL AND POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF TERMINAL AND TANKER OPERATIONS.
