THE PURPOSE OF THE ROCKLAND HISTORY TRUST IS TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE ROCKLAND HISTORICAL SOCIEITY. THE ROCKLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS A MAINE NON-PROFIT CORPORATION, TAX-EXEMPT AND TAX- DEDUCTIBLE UNDER THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE. THE ROCKLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY COLLECTS AND PRESERVES DATA CONCERNING THE LAND, PEOPLE, EVENTS, BUSINESSES AND ENTERPRISES RELATING TO THE LOCALE NOW KNOWN AS THE CITY OF ROCKLAND, SITUATED IN THE COUNTY OF KNOX AND STATE OF MAINE FOR THE PERIODS OF TIME BOTH PRIOR TO THE ORGANIZATION OF THE CITY OF ROCKLAND AND DURING THE EXISTENCE OF THE CITY OF ROCKLAND. THE ROCKLAND HISTORY TRUST MAY RECEIVE, SOLICIT AND INVEST FUNDS AND MAKE GRANTS AND DISTRIBUTIONS TO THE ROCKLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY. THE ROCKLAND HISTORY TRUST MAY ALSO MAKE GRANTS OR DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO OTHER NON-PROFIT, TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS THAT HOLD SIMILAR PURPOSES AND UNDERTAKE SIMILAR ACTIVIES RELATING TO THE DOCUMENTATION AND PRESERVATION OF THE HISTORY
