Mission Statement

RootsUprising is dedicated to raising and lifting up the untold stories of marginalized groups of people especially the BIPOC communities through the language of dance as a means for transformation. RootsUprising is grounded in the belief that there is healing in the act of storytelling stories that are housed in the body that become understood through the body in motion. Considering dance as text and text as dance RootsUprising aims to deepen the conversation of what equitable social justice can be.
