THE SAMPSON COUNTY MUSEUM OF HISTORY IS INTENDED FOR PROMOTION AND UNDERSTANDING OF HISTORICAL AND MATERIAL CULTURE OF SAMPSON COUNTY AND ITS UNIQUE HERITAGE. THROUGH COLLECTIONS AND HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION, THIS MUSEUM PROMISES TO ENCOURAGE VISITORS AND CITIZENS TO EXPLORE AND RELATE, ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, PAGES FROM THE PAST; TO REFLECT AND PAUSE AS THEY SEARCH THROUGH THEIR OWN LIVES AND THEIR PLACE IN HISTORY; AND TO PRESEVE STATE, REGION AND ESPECIALLY LOCAL HISTORY FOR ALL THE GENERATIONS TO COME. WE WILL COLLECT, PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN, IN READILY ACCESIBLE CONDITION, EVERY AVAILABLE FORM OF MATERIAL AND ARTIFACT DEEMED WORHTY, ESPECIALLY THOSE PERTAINING TO THE HISTORY OF SAMPSON COUNTY AND ITS CITIZENS; TO MAINTAIN AND PROTECT FACILITIES, WHICH WILL ENABLE STUDENTS AND OTHER RESEARCHERS TO UNDERSTAND AND USE THE MUSEUM FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL ENRICHMENT.
