Mission Statement

SAPPY MOFFITT FIELD FOUNDATION INC exists to establish and maintain a baseball field -- "Foundry Field" -- at the publicly-owned Southeast Park in South Bend, Indiana. A portion of the park originally designated for a baseball facility was never completed and we are partnering with local government and community organizations to establish a field for public use. The specific purposes of the organization are to: build and maintain a high-quality baseball field in an under-utilized segment of Southeast Park for the use of the general public; work with community organizations to provide programming for local youth; make a unique cultural and artistic contribution through field design and culturally-rich public art; and preserve, promote, and engage baseball's cultural impact in the South Bend area through displays, design elements, and programming at the field.
