Mission Statement

The Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club (SLBC) welcomes lawn bowlers of all skill levels - including beginners - who live in or visit Sarasota from all over the world during our Winter months. We especially welcome new lawn bowlers and provide formal beginner training as well as ongoing "technique" instruction. We offer informal 'jitneys" (i.e. games) for players of all skill levels, club tournament opportunities, and open tournament opportunities which include teams from the Southern Gulf Coast region of Florida. We maintain an inventory of bowls for players who do not own their own bowls. Modern Lawn Bowling began in the 1830's in England, but it is truly a 21st century sport. Women compete equally with men, seniors compete equally with far younger bowlers, bowlers of different skill levels can play together in the same game at the same time, and handicapped players play at competitive levels.
