ST. LUKE'S-ROOSEVELT HOSPITAL CENTER, FORMED BY MERGER IN 1979, IS A COMBINATION OF THREE HOSPITALS, EACH WITH A DISTINGUISHED HISTORY OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AND PUBLIC SERVICE. ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL WAS FOUNDED IN 1846, IN AFFILIATION WITH THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH TO PROVIDE CARE FOR THE SICK POOR. WOMEN'S HOSPITAL WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1855, FOR THE TREATMENT OF DISEASES PECULIAR TO WOMEN. ROOSEVELT HOSPITAL, CHARTERED IN 1864, WAS DEDICATED TO THE RECEPTION AND RELIEF OF SICK AND DISEASED PERSONS. THE MISSION OF ST.
