Mission Statement

The Corporation is formed for the charitable purposes of the promotion of knowledge and understanding of ethnicity, ethnic conflict, and nationalism studies broadly, with a particular geographic focus on Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, and Eurasia. It supports this knowledge and understanding through the sponsorship and organization of conventions, conferences, and symposia, alone and in collaboration with other organizations. It supports and promotes the scholarly work of academics and students by presenting awards in recognition of exceptional works of scholarship. The Corporation will support academic scholars, researchers, policymakers, administrators at universities and organizations, and the general public by facilitating contacts and exchanges between academic scholars and universities and regionally focused organizations, and promoting the exchange of their knowledge through the publication of a journal called Nationalities Papers, othe
