TO SUPPORT THE ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE AND EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AND THE RELIEF OF POVERTY IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, THE CHARITY ARRANGES TO PURCHASE HANDICRAFTS FROM THE ARTISANS CO-OPS, COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISES AT FAIR TRADE PRICES THAT PAY A LIVING WAGE. AS A MEMBER OF THE FAIR TRADE FEDERATION, THE CHARITY IS COMMITED TO CREATING AN ACCESSIBLE MARKETPLACE SO THAT THESE ARTISANS CAN PURCHASE THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR PRODUCTION, WITH THE REMAINING FIFTY-PERCENT PAID UPON DELIVERY. THE CHARITY THEN SELLS THE HANDICRAFTS THROUGH AN ONLINE MARKETPLACE ON THE CHARITY'S WEBSITE, WITH SUCH HANDICRAFTS MARKED-UP FROM WHOLESALE TO COVER THE CHARITY'S OVERHEAD COSTS.
