Mission Statement

THE MARTINEZ FOUNDATION SEEKS TO CLOSE THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT GAP BY PREPARING AND SUPPORTING DIVERSE AND HIGHLY-QUALIFIED TEACHERS WHO WILL RAISE EXPECTATIONS, ACCELERATE LEARNING AND CLOSE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP BY GRANTING SCHOLARSHIPS AND PROMOTING INNOVATIVE SOCIAL JUSTICE CURRICULUM. OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE TEACHER DIVERSITY AND THE RETENTION OF TEACHERS OF COLOR IN WASHINGTON STATE. THE MARTINEZ FOUNDATION IS THE ONLY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION IN WASHINGTON STATE WHOSE FOCUS IS TO RECRUIT, SUPPORT AND RETAIN TEACHERS OF COLOR IN THEIR PROFESSION. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2016, ALL PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE TECHNOLOGY ACCESS FOUNDATION.
