THE MISSION OF THE PHILADELPHIA EDUCATION FUND (PEF) IS TO CREATE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS BY PROVIDING RESOURCES AND EXPERTISE THAT BUILD PATHS TO COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS. WE FOCUS ON PHILADELPHIA STUDENTS ATTENDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH LOW GRADUATION, PERSISTENCE, COLLEGE ENROLLMENT, AND COLLEGE COMPLETION RATES. WE CONSIDER OUR EFFORTS CRITICAL IN A CITY WITH A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATE OF 69% (VS. 85% NATIONWIDE), A RANK OF 92 OUT OF 100 IN COLLEGE ATTAINMENT, AND IN WHICH 25% OF THE POPULATION LIVES IN POVERTY.
