Mission Statement

The Shakespeare Guild provides both in-person and online programs to promote greater appreciation for the world's most influential dramatist. In association with the National Arts Club and The Players in New York, for instance, we provided stimulating interviews in 2021 with such leading performers as Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen. And in April of 2022 these stars joined producer Sir Richard Eyre, playwright Sir David Hare, and the Very Reverend Dr. David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster Abbey in London, for a ceremony at which a stone floor memorial was dedicated at Poets' Corner to commemorate the life and legacy of Sir John Gielgud. The Guild's costs for this event would exceed $13,000.
