Mission Statement

Silver Lake Loop Trail Renovation Project: This project, conducted in partnership with USFSUWC, Salt Lake Ranger District, was part of a larger renovation project in the planning for more than 12 years. The SLRD conducted the complete renovation of the boardwalk section of the Silver Lake Loop Trail but reached out to Trails Utah to help them complete the natural surface trail around the back of the lake.Renovating and rehabilitating the dirt portion of this trail involved small alignment adjustments, adjustments to trail grade and widening the trail and making it so it could be formally classified as an ADA-compliant trail. To make the trail more sustainable and resistant to erosion, we dug out the existing trail and created a rock and gravel base and then built-up soils and finally a road base material for the top layer.
