TURNING POINT'S CORE MISSION IS TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF DOMESTIC ABUSE. WE START BY OFFERING VICTIMS AND THEIR CHILDREN A SAFE HAVEN. IN OUR SHELTER, THEY CAN BEGIN TO FEEL SAFE AND TAKE THE STEPS NEEDED TO BUILD VIOLENCE- FREE LIVES. OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, IDENTIFYING THE CYCLE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, MONEY MANAGEMENT, PARENTING SKILLS, AND HOUSEKEEPING. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO EMPLOYMENT AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY GOALS, SINCE MANY VICTIMS HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO CONTROL THE FAMILY FINANCES. JOB SEARCH COACHING INCLUDES RESUME WRITING, INTERVIEWING TECHNIQUES, JOB SEARCH STRATEGIES AND JOB REFERRALS OUR TRAINED CASE MANAGER AND VOLUNTEERS WORK WITH RESIDENTS TO DETERMINE FINANCIAL NEEDS AND CREATE HOUSEHOLD BUDGETS, STRUCTURE DEBT PAYMENT AND REPAIR CREDIT; HELPING FAMILIES DEVELOP THE SKILLS TO CREATE A SOUND FINANCIAL PLAN. 77% OF THE WOMEN WHO COMPLETE OUR PROGRAMS MAINTAIN VIOLENCE-FREE LIVES FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR AFTER LEAVING THE SHELTER.
